Gaining this lets me know who my work isn't for
Advocating for DEIBA is easy when it's backed by popular culture, but...
I support individuals who are passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility (DEIBA), but struggle to maintain their enthusiasm due to the challenges they face. Advocating for DEIBA is easy when it's backed by popular culture, but the complexities and criticisms of woke-ism can make it tough. I often feel drawn to engage with those who don't value DEIBA, which can cause internal conflict. However, I don't focus on this as it depletes my energy.
The true beneficiaries of DEIBA are institutions that aim to meet everyone's needs, even those who oppose it, often without realizing it. My role is to foster an environment that helps identify diverse needs. I choose not to focus on converting those who disagree, as it can be disheartening.
Instead, I prioritize supporting those willing to enhance their DEIBA efforts. The next step involves identifying the specific issues they need help with and the positive outcomes we're collectively working towards.
Gaining clarity.
